Bath Rugby-bound Sam Burgess wants give South Sydney Rabbitohs the perfect leaving present by helping them win a first NRL title in 43 years.
Rugby league superstar Burgess, 25, agreed a cross-code move back in February and will arrive at The Rec in mid-October.
Before that, however, he has the small matter of the NRL Grand Final against Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs to contend with on Friday after helping them to a 32-22 success over Sydney Roosters over the weekend.
Burgess has struck up a close friendship with South Sydney co-owner Russell Crowe during his five years in Australia. His brothers George, Luke and Thomas also play for the Rabbitohs, while his mother Julie, who now lives in Sydney.
It was Crowe who first convinced Burgess to join the Rabbitohs in 2010, and the Hollywood actor also agreed to release Burgess to join Bath.
Burgess said: "He's a normal bloke and I'm a normal fella. I'd love to be part of the team that won the premiership while Russell was still in ownership of the club.
"Not only for Russell, there's hundreds of people I can name. For the team, the whole squad of 30, it'd be a great achievement.
"We're totally grateful for everything the club's given us. The opportunities over the years have been nothing short of unbelievable really.
"Mum's had a great time and we've all really been made welcome and made at home in Australia. It's been a cracking experience and a cracking five years for me. I'm sure it'll continue for the rest of the family after this week."
