Update at midday:
Bristol Water believes almost all water supplies affected by the burst main in Kingswood have now been restored to normal.
However, teams of engineers are still flushing out the network to remove any air in the supply, or discoloured water.
A spokesman said: "It may be that some customers whose supplies have been restored will experience poor water pressure for a while. It will also take some time for restored supplies to reach the upstairs of properties.
People in Bristol spent another night without water last night.
A burst water main flooded Kingswood on Thursday, leaving up to 8,000 homes in East Bristol and South Gloucestershire without water.
People were evacuated from their homes by dinghy when the water supply went down in Kingswood and although the water is still not back on, a new pipe is being installed.
Engineers removed the damaged part of the main pipe in Fisher Road around 4.30pm yesterday. It is expected that the water should be back on sometime before 12pm today.
Affected areas include Kingswood, Pucklechurch, Mangotsfield, Oldland Common, Longwell Green, Barrs Court, Keynsham, Stockwood and Whitchurch.
