Letter: Police station move will help officers to arrive at incidents promptly

We have all benefited from Bath's vibrant economy over the last year. We have high employment and we attract investment and visitors at increasing levels.

There is however a down side to the this success that many residents will recognise, in traffic congestion and antisocial street behaviour. These are challenges to our police force and they have decided to responded to by moving their services to more suitable sites. I was in gridlocked traffic outside the Manvers street police station only two months ago wondering how the police response units would ever get to their emergency calls in time. So I welcome the news that the police rapid response unit will move to a new site and be able to improve the speed with which they arrive at incidents. All change is difficult but we need to respect the police services decision to leave Manvers Street and understand that they have made that operational decision to improve the service they provide for us all.
