Kingsmead House on James St West had become one of those projects people in Bath were convinced would never come to fruition.
Here is a timeline of what has happened so far;
Summer 2008 – The Department for Work and Pensions moves out of Kingsmead House
July 2010 – Developer Telereal Trillium reveals plans to demolish the 1960s building and replace it with a 190-bedroom hotel.
October 2011 – Bath and North East Somerset Council approve plans to replace Kingsmead House with a 177- bedroom hotel
November 2011 – Telereal Trillium begins discussions with potential operators for the new hotel.
September 2014 – Telereal Trillium sell Kingsmead House to Apex Hotels.
Autumn 2014 – Work expected to start on the demolition of Kingsmead House.
May 2015 – Construction work expected to start.
Autumn 2016 – Hotel due to open.
