A couple from Twerton, who were both born and have always lived in Bath, will celebrate their diamond wedding anniversary next week.
Great-grandparents Joan, 80, and Bill Haines, 81, will celebrate 60 years of marriage together on September 25.
The two met at Odd Down fair ground, a year-and-a-half before they married in 1954. They have four children of their own, as well as ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
One of their sons lives in Cumbria and their daughter lives in Milton Keynes, while their other two sons live in Bath and Midsomer Norton, so they enjoyed a get-together ahead of the anniversary.
Joan said: "We celebrated with our own children which was nice as they are in different places. My sisters are going to take Bill and I out for a meal the night before our anniversary which will be nice."
Bill was a plasterer before working at the Royal United Hospital for a few years, while Joan spent 24 years working at Twerton infants school as a dinner supervisor.
The two have lived in Twerton for 48 years.
Joan added: "He did plastering for all his working life and I went to the school when I had the children. I really enjoyed that and it was a lovely time of my life.
"Being born in this city meant I never wanted to leave. We lived in Larkhall and Grosvenor Place before moving to Twerton."
