Angel Di Maria is already the new hero of Old Trafford – and he could be even more popular with Manchester United fans if he helps bring Cristiano Ronaldo back from Real Madrid.
The Daily Express report that United boss Louis van Gaal is prepared to let £59.7million record signing Di Maria take parts in talks with Ronaldo after the pair struck up a great friendship at the Bernebeu.
Ronaldo, who has not hidden his upset at Di Maria's summer departure, is unsettled in Spain and is being pursued by both United – where he remains a hero – and Chelsea, managed by former Real boss Jose Mourinho.
