Police are looking for four males after a burglary at a bank in Bath today.
Forensic police were in Combe Down this morning after an incident at Barclays Bank, when the bank's cash machine was attacked.
The bank's cash machine, on the corner of Combe Road and North Road, was blown out of the wall around 3am.
A quantity of money was stolen during the incident.
An employee from a local firm in Combe Down said: "It's the only bank in the village, it's a bit of a shock for Combe Down.
"All I have been told is it was about 3am in the morning they kicked or blew the door, and they then set something to blow the ATM machine.
"There's glass out the front where the door has been blown, the ATM machine is missing. Apparently it's at the other end of the bank."
Police are investigating the incident and are appealing for anyone who saw anything suspicious to contact them.
Detective Sergeant Leon Swaby, of Bath CID, said: "We believe four males got into a red saloon-type car, that was parked in a gravel area opposite the bank's car park, and left at speed in the direction of Claverton Down around the time of the incident.
"We are appealing for these four males, or anyone who knows who they are, to contact us as they may have information which could help us with our enquiries.
"We are asking that members of the public, in particular taxi drivers who were travelling along Bradford Road and North Road between 3am and 3.15am this morning, cast their memories back to the time of the incident and contact us if they remember seeing a vehicle matching this description or similar, or anyone acting suspiciously in the area."
Camomile Clothes, which is next to Barclays, closed for the day.
A message on the shop's website said: "Unfortunately the Barclays Bank next door was robbed last night and the whole area is a crime scene.
"Our apologies, but we are unable to open today. Open as normal from Monday".
Seafoods takeaway fish and chips is down the street from Barclays on Bradford Road. Jason O'Halloran, from the shop, said the road was quiet when he came into work in the morning.
He said: "To be honest it was really quiet and obviously we never knew anything about it until we had a policeman come in.
"He was literally just going door to door trying to find out what's happening. He wanted to have a look at some CCTV footage that we have."
