England weightlifter Zoe Smith broke the Commonwealth Games record to clinch the 58kg title in Glasgow.
The 20-year-old, who does some of her training in the Team Bath gym, totalled 201kg to take gold ahead of Nigeria's Ndidi Winifred (206kg) and Welsh veteran Michaela Breeze (202kg).
She trailed Breeze, 35, after lifting 92kg in the snatch but showed her might with 118kg in the clean and jerk.
"I was just somewhere else entirely, I just can't believe it," said Smith afterwards. "I have done 118kg before, I knew I could do it, but doing it on the day is a completely different situation altogether.
"To have that 118kg over my head and stand still with it and getting the down signal was the biggest wave of relief I have ever felt. Part of me is glad that that is all done and dusted now.
"This has been a long time coming. I was always going for gold but whether I would get it or not was another thing entirely."
Smith had struggled to make the weight required in the days leading up to the competition at the Clyde Auditorium.
She said: "I think on Thursday it was still 60.6kg and that is a good 2.5kg to come down and it had moved about 0.5kg since being in the village so I was panicking.
"I was thinking 'I am either going to have to kick one of our 63kg guys out of the group so I can compete there or not compete at all'."
