Every week we quiz a Bath resident about what they love about our city. This week Mike Watts who owns several businesses in the Guildhall Market and is involved in plans to open a temporary toll road at Kelston
What's your favourite part of Bath?
Not an easy question because I love it all - especially the city centre.
However, at a push I would have to say the area from Margaret's Buildings along Brock Street into the Circus and down Gay Street ending up in Queen Square.
You can walk that part of Bath with no money in your pocket (which has been the case many times) and yet still feel you are in somewhere special and its free – it takes my breath away!
Where's the best place to eat?
In Bath we are really spoilt for places to eat and over the years I have always had my favourites but if I was totally honest the place I seem to be eating out in most of all is The Rising Sun in Grove Street.
Their food is the real deal its genuinely home cooked with the best possible locally sourced ingredients and for quality and price you can't beat it!
I usually have their fish 'n' chips or ham, egg and chips or their Sunday lunch – they're all delicious!
What's the best view in the city?
Without doubt looking from Royal Avenue in Victoria Park looking over the beautiful flower beds with the Royal Crescent as a backdrop.
As a child, living in the old Balance Street, my parents and grandparents would push me in my pram past this place and I've loved it ever since!
What would your perfect day in Bath entail?
Early breakfast in Loch Fyne, followed by a leisurely stroll around the city to see what's happening and what's new! Stopping at Roscoff Deli in Northumberland passage for a fabulous cup of coffee whilst sitting outside watching the world go by.
A leisurely long lunch at Circus Restaurant (taking in my favourite part of the city) and checking out the shops in Margaret's buildings and buying some piece of junk (treasure) in the antique shop that used to be Cater Stoffell and Fort when I was a kid.
And finally ending up with friends at The Rising Sun on one of their fabulous karaoke nights! If only!
Where would you meet friends for a drink?
Easy – The Rising Sun or alternatively The Tramshed in Walcot Street especially on Wednesdays (and now Thursdays) when they have a deal on their House Prosecco!
What's your favourite shop?
Another easy one! – Maplins! I don't know what it is about that place I just have to keep going there and looking around - even when I don't need anything!
I think I probably have a lead for every piece of electronic equipment manufactured.
My wife has taken to buying me Maplins Vouchers for Christmas and Birthdays and I love her for it.
What one thing about Bath would you change?
The riversides (both) from Pulteney Bridge to at least North Parade Bridge.
I cannot believe that we have got to 2014 and it still looks like it does.
With Pulteney Bridge being one of the most famous in the world the City should have exploited this golden opportunity to make these areas full of culture and activity.
I honestly think, that if this was anywhere else in the world it would have been done by now.
