Director of football Adie Britton says Saturday's clash with Bristol Rovers (3pm) will provide Bath City with a true measure of their pre-season progress following a twin Welsh test this week.
City drew 1-1 with a Cardiff City side that featured former Manchester United duo Federico Macheda and Fabio on Saturday before going down to a late penalty in a 2-1 defeat to the under-21s of Premier League outfit Swansea on Tuesday night.
Rovers – tenants at Twerton Park from 1986-96 – return to the city fresh from their relegation to the Conference in May and with a new-look line-up ahead of their bid to bounce back into League football at the first time of asking.
Britton – a lifelong Bristol City fan – said: "It is a fixture supporters of both sides look forward to and it will be interesting to see how we fare.
"I gather they are the favourites to go up from the Conference and I know our boys will enjoy it.
"Cardiff's pace and power was in advance of ours last weekend but maybe the gap won't be as great when we play Rovers this weekend and Cheltenham next (July 26).
"It will be a more realistic test and probably more physical than the Cardiff and Swansea games, which were also very useful for us."
Rovers boss Darrell Clarke, meanwhile, is planning to tinker with his line-up following a 1-0 friendly defeat at Cheltenham Town on Tuesday night.
"I'll be mixing things up a little bit and some of the first year pros will be getting a game and I might take the opportunity to look at some other players as well," he said.
