The Star eased their North Somerset League Sunday Conference Premier Division 2 relegation worries with a much-needed four-wicket home victory over UBH.

The visitors hit a quick-fire 78 off the opening eight overs but the the loss in quick succession of openers Ajay Bhatt (49) and J Plaja (29) ceased the flow of runs.

Edwin Lawrence held the UBH middle order together with a graceful 25 but they limped to 166 all out.

The Star's Andy Steady, Harjeet Alwak, Chris James, Adrian Boreham and Owen Thomas took two wickets apiece, with Nigel Cammann weighing in with a contender for Star's catch of the season at short cover.

The Star run chase started disastrously and they collapsed to 30-3 before James' proficient 22 provided the perfect foil for man of the match Owen Thomas (45) to score freely at the other end.

Ian Shanahan's 40 not out took the game away from UBH as The Star coasted to a comfortable win with 13 overs to spare.
