MATCH REPORT: South Korea 2 Algeria 4
Algeria gave themselves a great chance of qualifying from Group H as they became the first African side to net four times in a World Cup finals match.
Inspired by the recalled Islam Slimani, Algeria raced into a three-goal interval lead.
Slimani raced through to score on 26 minutes before Rafik Halliche headed home the second almost instantly.
And it was three for Algeria before the break as the impressive Slimani played through Abdelmoumen Djabou to side-foot home from inside the penalty area to cap an unbelievable first 45 minutes - considering they had waited 28 years for their first World Cup goal in their opening fixture in Brazil against Belgium.
Son Heung-min gave South Korea a lifeline on 50 minutes but Yacine Brahimi restored Algeria's three-goal advantage on 62 minutes, before Koo Ja-cheol made it 4-2 with 18 minutes to play.
They now face a winner-takes-all encounter in their final pool game with Russia on Thursday to see who progresses along with Belgium to the knockout stages.
Algeria: Mbolhi, Bougherra, Halliche, Mesbah, Feghouli, Brahimi (Lacen 77), Medjani, Slimani, Bentaleb, Djabou (Ghilas 73), Mandi.
