A one minute silence was held at the Nunney International Horse Trials in Frome following the death of a rider. The event was cancelled on Saturday after a rider, named as Canadian Jordan McDonald, died whilst competing. The horse trials, held at Southfield House, Whatley, Frome, resumed Sunday. In a statement yesterday organisers said: "It is with the deepest regret that we announce that Mr Jordan McDonald (competitor number 340) died today as a result of a fatal accident whilst competing at Nunney British Eventing Affiliated One Day Event in Somerset at 1.29pm on Saturday 14th June 2014. "Jordan's horse, "Only Me", a 7 year old gelding, was not injured. "Jordan was aged 30 and based in Leicestershire but is Canadian by nationality. He had been married to Shandiss for one year. "The Organising Committee of Nunney International extend their sincere condolences to the family of Jordan at this very difficult time." They said the decision to continue with the competition on Sunday was made after consultation with all parties involved, including the Organising Committee and BE officials. As a mark of respect a one-minute silence was held at 11am in the main arena. Nearly 800 horses were due to compete at the event, which has attracted some of the top names from the sport of eventing, including Zara Phillips, Harry Meade, Sam Griffiths, Kristina Cook and Izzy Taylor.
