Detectives trying to solve the 1984 murder of Bath schoolgirl Melanie Road have been handing out leaflets and posters to city centre shoppers as part of their public appeal for information.
The team of officers had a mobile police station in Stall Street, outside the Pump Room, today in a bid to encourage anyone with information to come forward.
They have a full DNA profile of Melanie's killer and need people to give them names of potential suspects so they can finally bring peace for the 17-year-old's family 30 years on.
Det Con Jon Hook, is who part of the investigation, said they were getting a good response from passers-by, many of whom remembered the horrific murder and wanted to help.
He said: "What we are hoping to do today is connect with the local community by handing out these leaflets and playing them videos of the Crimewatch appeal, which was released five years ago for the 25th anniversary.
"We just want someone to give us a name.
"The residents of Bath are very aware of this crime, a lot of the people we are speaking to remember when it happened.
"A lot of them are frustrated that they don't know who was involved and they desperately want to help us."
He added: "If anybody has any suspicions, for whatever reasons, then they can give us a name in confidence.
"Because we have this DNA profile we can easily and quickly eliminate people from our inquiries, so people should feel able to pass on any names to us."
Police were in the city centre from 11am to 3pm and will return again at the same times tomorrow.
Melanie was killed on her way home to Lansdown after a night out in Bath city centre with her friends in June 1984.
Her body was found at 5.30am on Saturday, June 9, near some garages in St Stephen's Court, close to her home in St Stephen's Close.
She had been sexually assaulted and stabbed repeatedly in the chest and back.
