For eight weeks Bath has been on the edge of its seat watching as one of its own battles it out for the 2014 MasterChef crown and tonight the wait is over. On Friday night Ping Coombes, 33, will go head to head with fellow finalists Jack Lucas and Luke Owen as they face their final culinary challenge and have just three hours to cook a three-course meal for judges chef John Torode and food critic Gregg Wallace. On Thursday the three went to Barcelona where they had to design and cook three tapas dishes, met pastry chef Christian Escribà and cooked with Michelin starred chef Carles Abellan. The three amateur chefs then presented a dish to legendary chef Ferran Adrià. Mr Adrià said he was impressed by Mrs Coombes' dish of pulled pork goujons and clementine air. He said: "For me the most important thing is technically it is impeccable." Mrs Coombes described her time in Spain as "incredible" and admitted she was drained afterwards. The final episode of MasterChef 2014 can be seen on Friday night on BBC One at 8.30pm.
