Gavin Henson's hopes of a recall to the Wales squad have been dealt a blow after it was confirmed he will not be allowed to take part in their trial match at the end of the month. Bath Rugby back Henson had been included in the 'Probables' camp to take a 'Possibles' team at the Liberty Stadium in Swansea on Friday, May 30. Prop Paul James is also amongst the 52 players selected. The game is a chance for Wales head coach Warren Gatland to fine tune his selection for the two-Test tour to South Africa in June. The match takes place just a day before the Aviva Premiership final, however, and England's top-flight clubs do not have to release their players for the game as it is not a Test match. And Bath are to adhere to that policy, meaning both Henson and James are unavailable for the match. Following Henson's initial selection, Wales boss Gatland said: "At the moment Gavin is probably fourth or fifth in line for a place in our midfield, but we do have injuries and this is an opportunity for him to be involved. He does provide cover and experience. "I just hope common sense prevails, especially for those players whose seasons will have finished. After all, it would be difficult to consider Gavin Henson for the tour unless he plays in this trial game." Henson won the last of his 33 caps in a World Cup warm-up match in August 2011 but has always stressed his eagerness to return to the national set-up.
