Team Bath's young middle-distance athletes took full advantage of good quality competition and pacemaking to clock a glut of personal bests during Monday's British Milers' Club PB Classic meeting at Millfield School.
Of the 23 club athletes who made the trip to Somerset, 16 recorded PBs on an evening that, at first, hardly seemed conducive to fast running under a grey sky, gusting winds and drizzle.
Rory Howorth's UK Age 11 record run clearly inspired older brothers Robert (2:08.04) and John (2:08.11) as they set PBs in the D race.
The club's quickest male over two laps was 17-year-old George Chapman, who took almost a second off his PB with 1:56.62 for fourth in the B race.
In the women's 800m, 14-year-old Caitlin Wosika continued her excellent start to the season with a second significant PB in succession.
Wosika carved almost ten seconds off her 2013 best with a time of 2:23.21 to win the C race. She went third on the 1,500m South West Rankings list with a 4:52.7 run in Yate on Saturday.
At the top of that is club- mate Laura McNab as the 14-year-old finished seventh in the 1,500m B race in 4:50.78, which chopped almost eight seconds off her old best.
The best performance in the men's 1,500m came from 15-year-old Will Stockley, who carved seven seconds off his best with 4:11.78 for 14th in the A race, in which Alex Carter (3:55.09) came a fine third.
