Paulton Rovers ready for Bank Holiday Monday promotion showdown with Merthyr Town

Paulton Rovers head to Wales on Monday afternoon for one of the biggest games in the club's history - the Calor Southern League Division 1 South & West play-off final against Merthyr Town (3pm). The game at Penydarren Park will be played on a 3G artificial pitch, with Rovers preparing for the experience by training on Writhlington School's similar surface on Saturday. Their last trip to the Martyrs back in January ended in a narrow 3-2 defeat, with Rovers going ahead through Ben Lacey and Brandon Barnes before the hosts hit back. Rovers, who won the reverse fixture 5-2 back in September, travelled to Wales early on Monday morning to ensure they would arrive in plenty of time to be fully prepared. They are without defenders Sam Teale and Dean Evans, both of whom saw red in last week's gutsy 3-1 win at Tiverton Town in the semi-finals. Stuart Tovey was also booked that day, meaning he is suspended too, while Ryan Bath, Ryan Batten and Josh Jeffries are injured. The game will be broadcast live by Somer Valley FM on 97.5 FM and at www.somervalleyfm.co.uk from 3pm.
