A Bath hiker managed to reunite a rambler with his keys after he found them 3,000ft up on the Brecon Beacons.
Jeff Spencer feared the car and house keys were lost forever after he dropped them while trekking along Pen Y Fan in the Brecon Beacons.
He was forced to leave his car in Wales and get a train home to Bristol but the next day was stunned to get a call from marketing boss Tom Vaughton who had found the keys.
Mr Vaughton, who runs Varn Media, in Bradford on Avon, was on a training exercise on Pen Y fan - the highest peak in Wales and south Britain - when he stumbled upon them.
He discovered contact details for the owner on a USB stick on the keyring, and got in touch with Mr Spencer.
Mr Vaughton was training with the team from Bath Youth for Christ, which is run by his brother James.
They are training for the 15 peaks challenge.
He said: "Anyone who has lost their car keys would find it inconvenient but losing your car keys on a mountain is particularly unfortunate.
"It's not an environment you want to go back to just to hunt around for keys.
"The chances of the keys being found are remote but finding them and being able to return them the next day is particularly fortunate."
Mr Vaughton found the keys on April 9 while preparing for the 15 Peaks Challenge in June - where he aims to raise funds for a youth work charity called YFC.
Mr Spencer had been exploring in the mountains the previous day and presumed the keys were lost forever.
After receiving his keys back from Mr Vaughton, he wrote to him: "Thanks so much for sending my keys. I returned to Merthyr yesterday and retrieved my car and all is resolved. I will certainly be donating to your charity!"
