Bath will be tuning into MasterChef on Wednesday night to find out whether a mother from the city has got what it takes.
Ping Coombes, from Fairfield Park, has reached the knockout week of the BBC cooking series.
Viewers watched her breeze through her quarter final replicating judge John Torode's Indian spiced potato galette and using her own recipe to cook the noodle dish laksa.
The 33-year-old decided to enter the competition after being made redundant from her job at a private hospital.
"I'd been on maternity and I knew I was being made redundant and my friend sent me the application.
"It's been a bit over whelming to be honest. It's nice they are saying such lovely things.
"Because I've watched them for years to hear their comments has been quite humbling. When you cook and cook for friends they say it's nice but to get comments from those two is a whole different ball game."
Both Mr Torode and fellow judge food critic Gregg Wallace have praised Mrs Coombe's cooking and confidence in the kitchen.
At the end of the quarter final Mr Torode said: "I think her food tastes great and it brings a smile to my face."
Mrs Coombe, who lives in Bath with her entrepreneur husband Andrew - owner of Concrete Studios -and their 16-month-old daughter Alexa, admitted that she only learnt to cook when she moved to the UK from Malaysia ten years ago.
"I didn't really start until I went away to university at the age of 21. I used to Skype my mum so she could tell me what to do. I still do that - talk to her everyday - and she tells me how to make it better."
Tonight fans will see Mrs Coombes cook in the kitchen at the Caxton Grill in London with head chef Adam Handling before cooking for chef Marcus Wareing.
The episode will be on BBC One at 8pm.
