TV preview: What to watch on Sunday

I'll cut right to it, on BBC 2 at 9pm is the second instalment of Fargo. This is the second instalment of the TV series based on the Coen brother's widely successful film. It's well scripted, well performed and easily the best thing on TV tonight save for a few brief moments of your screen being obstructed by someone walking in front of it. Unless of course you're an Opera fan, if you are, flick over to BBC 4 at 7pm to catch the entire uninterrupted run of Don Giovanni. If you've not seen it, Don Giovanni tells the darkly humorous tale of a man whose charisma and charm set in motion a chain of events that ultimately lead to his downfall. It's a real treat and there's plenty of songs to keep everyone in high spirits. Meanwhile on Channel 4 we're treated to a repeat of Posh Pawn, presumably because it was such a runaway success the first time, and I find myself wondering what it's all been about. I mean, 90% of TV output for the last week could just be one 45 hour broadcast entitled "Look at people". Look at people selling things, look at people cooking things, or my personal favourite, look at people watching other people watch people. That last one would be where we'd rerun every series of Britain's Got Talent back to back until even the most die hard of fans has chosen jam the remote up their nose in a bid to end it all. Finally at 9pm on BBC 2 we've got the network premier of The Artist. I always enjoy network premiers. I imagine all the well meaning but ultimately foolish network reps scraping together the cash to buy the rights, and when they get it they all cheer and hug each other. Then I remember that it's all run by one superpower using to media to serve their own agenda. Then I get sad, still, Monday tomorrow eh?
