Be quick to win a place in the 2015 London Marathon

The public ballot for runners chasing a place in next year's London Marathon opened today. But you will have to be quick, the ballot for last year's race closed in record time after 125,000 applications were received in 11 hours and 25 minutes - beating the previous record by six hours. If you are thinking about running for a charity some will ask for a registration fee and a pledge to raise a minimum amount before offering you a guaranteed spot for the race on April 26, 2015. Runners forced to withdraw from this year's London Marathon can apply to take part in the 2015 event through a deferred entry. If you missed the race through illness or injury you must apply for a deferred entry before the deadline at 5pm on June 20.
