A teenage boy has been identified as the person who threw a bottle at referee Tim Wigglesworth following the Battle of Kingsholm.
The youngster was on an escorted rugby tour with friends, accompanied by school teachers, when the incident occurred at the end of Saturday's heated encounter between Gloucester and Bath Rugby.
A statement from the home club said: "Gloucester Rugby were made aware following the Aviva Premiership game at home to Bath of an allegation of a bottle being thrown in the direction of the match officials as they left the field.
"Having looked closely at the available CCTV footage, Gloucester Rugby have now been able to identify that an empty soft drink bottle was thrown towards the tunnel area from seats occupied by a group of teenage boys on an escorted rugby tour.
"The individuals were on a day out, accompanied by their school teachers, which included watching the game.
"The individual concerned has admitted to the act, and is extremely remorseful about his actions. Gloucester Rugby are liaising with the club and individual with regards to appropriate action being taken.
"Gloucester Rugby would like to stress that the individual involved is neither a member or regular supporter of the club."
The official was targeted at the end of a controversial game which saw him send off two players, sin-bin another five and awarded Bath a controversial penalty try in the closing stages.
A Gloucestershire Police spokesman told the Gloucester Citizen they had not received any reports relating to the bottle-throwing incident.
