TV preview: What to watch on Sunday

Happy Mothers day everyone. What better way to celebrate than an evening of the same shows but with a motherly twist. ITV are gearing up for the old one two with a double mothers day bill of feel good entertainment. At 6pm we've got a Mother's Day special of celebrity catchphrase starring Kimberly Walsh, Emma Willis and David Walliams who've all brought their mums along. As dreary as it sounds, David Walliams is always good value on these kind of shows so I'll probably give this a watch. If only to see him gasp as Mr Chips does something naughty behind a square that is yet to be revealed.

Not wanting to get you too cheery ITV then knock the legs out from under you with a Mother's Day special of Surprise, Surprise presented by every dads favourite mum, Holly Willoughby. Expect tears throughout as we start with WWE wrestling star John Cena giving a wrestling mad mum from Peckham the VIP treatment. Hopefully not a choke hold in sight.

Skipping over to Channel 4 at 8pm will you bring you out at every mother's favourite pastime, war documentaries. Yes, much to everyone's surprise, Channel 4 are ignoring the occasion entirely with a showing of The Dambusters Great Escape followed by Woman in Black. Lovely stuff.

The BBC however seem to have this whole lineup malarkey nailed, providing something for everyone come the post dinner sit down. At 9pm you have a choice of The Musketeers series finale on BBC 1 which promises to be even more fighting, shouting and dodgy French accents from the supporting cast. Or Louis Theroux's LA stories, my personal pick, where this week he looks at the American attitude to death. He visits the Sinai Medical Centre in West Hollywood which houses people suffering from terminal diseases to look to talk to families and medical professionals about where to draw the line between living and quality of life.

So there you have it and the post news line up isn't too bad either actually. There's Match of the Day, Top of the Pops 1977 presumably with Jimmy Savile CGI'd out or horror film Orphan on Channel 4. See, they haven't forgotten after all.
