A team of students from the University of Bath has so far raised £50,000 for a children's charity as they prepare for a trip of a lifetime.
The group of 40 will be climbing Kilimanjaro in aid of the Children's Society, a charity working to help improve the lives of vulnerable children in the UK.
Team leader Nadia Craddock, 28, said: "We held an information day and more than 200 people turned up.
"We had 40 places and these went in two hours.
"I was really surprised and pleased with the turnout."
So far the team has raised more than £50,000 through sponsorship, bag packs and street collections.
Nadia said: "I am exceptionally proud of this achievement.
"The whole team has been working incredibly hard to fundraise on top of our studies and other university commitments.
"We have been busy bag-packing, street collecting, selling cakes, holding raffles, hosting quizzes and movie nights."
The team are now preparing for the challenge in June, which will see them spend four-and-a-half days climbing the African mountain, and one-and-a-half days walking down it.
Nadia said: "I am looking forward to it, but have never done anything like this before. We wanted to support the society as they do amazing work with vulnerable children."
