Bob McGregor boosted his chances of retaining the seniors' Division 1 title with victory over fellow contender Mike Fear.
McGregor was three down after five holes but had drawn level by the turn. Although Fear re-took the lead on the tenth, McGregor claimed a vital success by winning the last.
Fear also dropped a point against Brian Lambern, who got himself off the mark for the season in the process.
Lambern trailed at the turn and fell behind again on the back nine but drew level on the 18th.
Malcolm French tops the table with a game to play and kept his challenge alive with victory over Richard Randall.
Six pars in a row on the front nine helped French to a two-hole lead at the turn and he held his nerve to win on the 18th.
Colin Lee continued his climb up the table with a comfortable win over Terry Selway, coasting home with three holes to spare.
Title favourite Brian Wickham eventually saw off determined opponent Sue Norris.
Wickham had an early three-hole lead whittled down to one with two to play but managed to halve the 17th and 18th.
Brian Woodford made sure of promotion from Division 2 with victory over long-time leader Brian Allen.
Woodford was one up at the turn and won the game with two holes to spare but will still be joined in Division 1 by Allen next season.
Roger Randall achieved a fine win over John Sercombe but just fell short of the promotion places.
Sercombe won the first two holes but Randall hit back to square the match at the turn and confirmed victory on the 16th.
Lionel Smith was held to a draw by battling Craig Jones.
Smith was in command on the front nine but Jones won four of the next six holes to lead by two with three to play. Smith did well to fight back and rescue a point on the final hole.
Wickham had to pull out all the stops to defeat Allen at the first extra hole and reach the final of the Plate.
Two birdies in the first four holes gave Wickham an early lead but Allen was two up with two to play. Wickham took the 17th and 18th to deny him, however, and then prevailed in extra-time.
