It's the weekend again and wouldn't you know it the sun might just be coming out. Or not, the last two days have only yielded a terrifying fog. All the more excuse to stay inside, huddled in front of the TV. Eyes wide with fear as you flick mindlessly through the channels looking for someone, anyone, to hold on to as the fog creeps under the door starting to...oh look The Voice is on.
Fresh from the pitch battle rounds the run time has been cut to a slightly more palatable hour and twenty minutes for those of you adverse to sliding into a kylie induced coma. It's now the knockout rounds so there's sure to be more tears and broken dreams. If you listen you can hear them shatter under Tom Jones' heel, although it'll be a nice break from the lift music covers that they contestants will be belting out.
Flicking over to BBC 2 at 8:30pm will bring you out at The Culture Show which this week is doing an expose on Viking Art. In all honesty this looks really interesting, taking the lead from those great documentaries made famous in the 70's, when a documentary was allowed to just sit and talk about something.
Taking into account recent discoveries in the worlds of Viking art and jewellery, the documentary aims to overturn popular myths that portray the Vikings as murderers and pillagers. Instead casting them as creators of an intricate warrior culture.
Topping off the Saturday watch fest is the return of KGB spy drama The Americans on ITV at 9:20pm. It's all go tonight with Elizabeth coming home just in time for Henry's birthday party trying to to restore a sense of normality to the family's everyday 'American' life following the events of last series finale only for a routine operation to go pear shaped as the FBI draw closer. And there you have it, not bad for a Saturday night.
