Some 93 per cent of children leaving primary school this year have got their first preference secondary selection in the Bath area. Allocations for secondary places were revealed across the country today. In B&NES, 93 per cent - 1,970 children - have been offered their top choice, a slight fall from the 95 per cent figure last year. The figure is higher than that in many other parts of the country, with Bristol only achieving 77 per cent. In all, 2,079 overall preferences were met for a B&NES school, but not all of these will have necessarily applied for a B&NES school as first preference; Some 3,757 overall preferences were received for local schools, of which 2,126 were first preferences. Schools which are oversubscribed for the September 2014 intake are Beechen Cliff School, Hayesfield School, Oldfield School, Ralph Allen School, St Gregory's School, Wellsway School and Writhlington School.
