Bath Rugby's Davey Wilson helped England to a thrilling RBS Six Nations victory over Ireland at Twickenham.
However, Bath Rugby team-mate George Ford will have to wait for his England debut after not being used as a replacement. Dave Attwood came on for the final ten minutes.
Prop Wilson only returned from injury in Bath's victory at Exeter the previous weekend but was brought into the England starting line-up following an injury to Dan Cole.
Despite having played just 47 minutes of rugby since returning from his calf injury, Wilson lasted 70 minutes and, although the England scrum was under pressure at times, the home side did enough for a 13-10 victory to keep their Championship hopes alive and deny Ireland the triple crown.
England led 3-0 at the break but then fell 10-3 behind before fighting back for victory through a Danny Care try.
Uncapped Ford had hoped to make his England debut off the bench but will now have to wait and see whether he retains his place in the squad for the next match at home to Wales in two weeks' time.
Bath prop Paul James came off the bench as Wales defeated France 27-6 at the Millennium Stadium last night.
England, Wales, Ireland and France now all have four points from their opening two matches, with Ireland topping the table on points difference.
