Bath's Olympic gold medallist Lizzy Yarnold is to lead Team GB into the Winter Games' closing ceremony.
The women's skeleton champion has been chosen to carry the Union Flag and lead Team GB into the Closing Ceremony of the 2014 Olympic Winter Games tomorrow.
"It's been an indescribable experience here in Sochi. I came to these Games with the goal of competing to the best of my ability, doing my country proud, and supporting my teammates across all of Team GB. To have been selected for this honour is so far beyond anything I could have ever imagined.
"It makes what has already been an incredible experience just that much more special, and I am extremely grateful."
The selection was made by Team GB Chef de Mission Mike Hay and Deputy Chefs de Mission Mahdi Choudhury and Louise Whitehead.
Yarnold won the gold medal in women's skeleton on Valentine's Day, delivering a commanding performance that saw her take the lead on her first run and hold it throughout the four-run event. Yarnold set track records on her first and third runs, and her final margin of victory was 0.97 seconds faster than her nearest competitor.
The 25-year-old, who trains in Bath, is the fourth consecutive Team GB athlete to win a medal in women's skeleton, joining fellow Bath Olympian Amy Williams, Alex Coomber and Shelley Rudman.
There are also thought to be plans to hold an open bus tour for Yarnold when she returns to the city next month.
