Actress Dame Harriet Walter to return to Bath for the Bath Festival of Literature

Renowned actress, Dame Harriet Walter, will be appearing at this year's Bath Festival of Literature, the Bath Chronicle can exclusively reveal. Walter has received wide recognition for her work on stage, including two prestigious Olivier awards and a Tony nomination, and she has been awarded both a CBE and a DBE. Walter has also worked extensively in television and film, recently appearing in Downton Abbey alongside fellow Dame, Maggie Smith. Her film credits include The Young Victoria (Queen Adelaide) Atonement, Bright Young Things, Sense and Sensibility and Louis Malle's Milou et Mai. At the Festival of Literature she will be appearing in the courtroom drama, Hanged for Love: The Trial of Edith Thompson and Freddie Bywaters which is being staged in the atmospheric setting of the council chamber in Bath's Guildhall. The play is set on January 9 1923 when Edith Thompson and her lover Frederick Bywaters were hanged in London, both found guilty of her husband's murder. It is being produced by award-winning BBC Radio 4 producer Marilyn Imrie. Tickets cost £15 and are available from Bath Festival of Literature
