Almost everyone has at least one pair of jeans, a fresh pair always kept clean or old favourites so ancient they are more comfortable than pajamas. But would you wear them to an job interview? It has become socially acceptable to wear jeans when being interviewed for a new job, according to littlewoods.com. One in four men wear jeans on a daily basis and women pull on a pair of jeans on 152 days of the year, the latest research reveals. But would you show up to an interview hoping to look your best in denim? City of Bath students took to the city's streets to see what shoppers thought and found opinion was split. A local high street franchise manager said this "Personally, I am not speaking on behalf of the company, but I believe it's how you connect personally with the candidate, obviously they have to present themselves in an impressing manor, ripped jeans is a no." While Sally, 56, from Bath said: "Well we never wore jeans to interviews when I was younger but I can imagine they would make you more comfortable and make for a better interview." Manager of skate shop Route One, Nick, 24, said no to jeans and a T-shirt. "I don't think it matters wherever you go, even in a skate shop you should dress smartly. A shirt with a tie and a jacket, something you would wear on a night out." Today's society has new role models such as Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, Google boss Sergey Brin and the late Apple founder Steve Jobs. These men have helped to create a new acceptable dress code for the western world. They are the "icing on the dress-down culture cake" according to the survey by Littlewoods.com.
