A decision on whether 99 new homes can be built in Saltford is unlikely to be announced this week.
The Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government Eric Pickles was due to make a decision today on whether or not Crest Nicholson can build the homes.
The developer wants to build the homes on land off Manor Road but the plans were rejected by Bath and North East Somerset Council's development control committee last spring.
At a public inquiry held in the village last August local people protested outside arguing the green belt needed to be protected.
More than 400 objected to the new housing and 1,000 people signed a petition against the development.
A spokesman for the Secretary of State said a decision would be made in due course.
