Stormy weather is expected to continue until Tuesday. Today sees stormy weather, with heavy rain and gusts of up to 20mph across the region. Experts have predicted that this will continue until Tuesday, when the weather should improve. The Met Office issued a severe weather warning for Bath and the surrounding area on Friday. Forecasters warned the South West of England could be hit by torrential rain showers which will fall on already saturated ground. Conditions improved yesterday but the whole country for is on alert for another band of severe weather starting today. News of more heavy rain will add to the flooding misery in many parts of the South West. There are still nine flood warnings and 21 flood alerts still in place across the South West. Yet despite the storms the Met office say if there is no cold snap before the end of the month, January is on track to be the mildest since 2007, placing it in the top ten warmest since records began in 1910. January temperatures this year have so far averaged 5.1C (41.2F), 1.5C higher than expected. At 5.7C (42.3F), December was 1.8C above average.
