People in Bath took part in a wassail to frighten off evil spirits.
The Bath Organic Garden group got together for a party to drink to the health of the trees.
In the morning participants were able to learn how to prune trees in the orchard and try some of the cider made from the fruit.
Then they took part in a wassail, an ancient tradition to make the trees happy so that they give off a good crop of apples.
To do this they had to sing songs, chant and bang pots to frighten off the evil spirits.
The group was led by master of ceremonies January, from the Kilter Theatre.
Bath Organic Group chair Kate Mills said: "We have been pruning trees, and then enjoyed a lunch with lots of local food and drink.
"Now is the time of our first wassail, to make the trees happy and get a good crop of apples.
"The point is to frighten away the evil spirits."
