Five police officers who helped to get eleven men behind bars for conspiracy to supply cocaine and firearms from an address in Kilmersdon have been awarded this afternoon. The team worked on Operation Lascar, which resulted in a total of 70 years behind bars for the men. During the investigation officers recovered firearms, a significant quantity of pure cocaine and discovered an underground bunker containing cannabis plants and hydraulic press at a property in Kilmersdon. They have joined other officers from across the Avon and Somerset Police force area being honoured by Avon and Somerset Constabulary's Chief Constable. Nick Gargan, who has presented awards to the winners at a ceremony, said: "I am delighted to present these awards to those police officers, staff and members of the public who have shown an outstanding commitment and dedication to Avon and Somerset Constabulary in the line of duty." Amongst the other winners are the police team which helped to convict the people who murdered a woman in her own home and then burnt her body and a detective sergeant who helped convict a supply teacher who was found guilty of 15 counts of indecent assault and one of sexual assault and was jailed for 10-and-a-half years.
