People are advised to drive safely tonight and tomorrow morning as freezing temperatures are likely to cause icy conditions on already wet and flooded roads.
Heavy rainfall this morning, coupled with already saturated ground, has caused a build up of surface water and rivers to burst their banks, flooding roads and properties across Wiltshire.
With road surface temperatures forecast to drop below zero tonight, driving conditions are likely to become even more hazardous.
Wiltshire Council has said teams are already out in force, dealing with flooded roads and properties.
People who see a blocked road are being asked to report it, although it may take some time for the team to reach minor roads.
The gritter crews will be salting the major roads in the county this evening, but the message remains that people should drive according to the conditions and never assume a road has been treated.
John Thomson, cabinet member for highways, said: "Our teams are working closely with partner organisations to keep the highways clear during this bad weather.
"The hard work will continue as we strive to make sure our roads and footways stay as clear as possible during the winter months."
If people wish to report a highway issue, they can call Clarence on 0800 232323.
