While many will be sleeping off their turkey dinner or settling down for the Queen's speech a new Christmas tradition is emerging.
More than one million people are expected to go online this afternoon to look for a new home.
Last year Andrews Estate Agents saw a surge of people log onto its website post 3pm on Christmas Day and they are expecting the same thing this year.
According to Rightmove.co.uk 1.6 million visited its website on Christmas Day last year.
Area manager for Andrews in Bath, Stuart Oliver, said the growing trend was surprising on a day when most people will be with family.
"It is accustomed wisdom that Christmas and the prospect of a New Year gets people thinking seriously about moving, but often this would be left until the New Year. Now, with so many people receiving tablets and smartphones as gifts, they are starting their house-hunting from their armchair on Christmas Day and we are making sure that our seller's properties are right in front of them."
