A group of volunteers have been bringing Christmas to patients at the RUH. The Friends of the RUH visited patients at the hospital today serving refreshments and handing out presents. Volunteer services manager, Jayne Watkins, said the volunteers had been preparing for weeks to bring a bit of Christmas cheer to the wards at the RUH. "We are looking forward to making Christmas a little brighter for patients in hospital over the festive season. "We shall be offering each patient a gift from the trolley to wish them a happy Christmas from the Friends of the RUH. The patients will get to choose one item from the trolley. Such a gift can make a big difference to those who are in hospital over Christmas." Senior charge nurse on Forrester Brown Trauma Unit, Simon Andrews, said patients and staff appreciated the effort. "This is so kind and I know the patients appreciate this as the majority of our patients on Forrester Brown are immobile and many do not have visitors to go to the shop for them. I think the trolley idea is excellent. Many thanks for all the hard work of the volunteers it makes a real difference." Anyone who would like to become a volunteer at the RUH can call 01225 824046.
