An art auction in Bath which featured work by Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood and Prince Charles has raised £63,000 for the heir to the throne's charity, The Prince's Trust.

The exclusive invitation- only event, called An Evening of Art, took place at the Assembly Rooms.

Artwork included a portrait of Wallace and Gromit by creator Nick Park and a silkscreen and photo collage of Venice by Sir Peter Blake, who once lived at Wellow.

The 70 artists who donated their work also included Sir Quentin Blake, Bath artist Peter Brown, Sam Wigan, Jason Kelly, Nick Jeffrey and cartoonist Gerald Scarfe.

Guests were also able to bid for a watercolour painting by the Prince of Wales.

All proceeds from the auction will go directly towards helping disadvantaged young people in the South West.

The trust gives practical and financial support to such young people, developing key workplace skills such as confidence and motivation.

It works with young people aged between 13 and 30 who have struggled at school, have been in care, are long-term unemployed or have been in trouble with the law.

Jack Lewis, from the trust, said: "The event has raised a fantastic amount of money for the trust so we're extremely grateful to all the artists who donated artwork for the event.

"It's vital we act now and keep doing everything we can to help disadvantaged young people across the South West.

"The money raised on the night is a huge help and will help many young people to change their lives."

Christies contemporary art expert Tom Best conducted the live auction and guests were also able to bid on a silent auction using touchscreen tablets.

Sponsors and supporters of the event were Coutts & Co, Withy King, The Roper Family Charitable Trust and ResideBath.
