Visitors heading to Bath this weekend for their Christmas shopping are being encouraged to spend their money with the city's independent traders.
This weekend is the first Small Business Saturday, part of a national campaign to promote independently- run businesses.
Manager of the Bath Business Improvement District, Andrew Cooper, said one of the city's main attractions was its variety of independent shops and restaurants.
"I would like to encourage the people of Bath as well as the visitors to get behind this campaign. So why not use this Saturday to explore some of the unusual and unique shops and restaurants and above all enjoy soaking up the ambience of Bath at Christmas?"
Shopkeepers and other members of the business community are being asked to use the hashtag #smallbizsatuk to promote the event.
Chief operating officer of boot shop Duo, Simon Hudson, said: "We have been part of the Bath business community for over 40 years and we are proud to be part of an independent group of retailers who strive to bring choice, diversity and the best to the high street."
