Team Bath AC's Alex Carter positive ahead of European Championship trials in Liverpool

Team Bath AC's Alex Carter will head to Liverpool for Saturday's European Championship under-20 men's trials race in a positive frame of mind. The 17-year-old has started the season well and after coming fourth in the opening British Cross Challenge race in Bristol last month, should be among the leading contenders. "I am bottom of the age group so will be up against runners two years older than me, which makes a difference, so I would be happy if I can make the top 20," said Carter. Also racing in Liverpool for the first time is fellow Team Bath runner Hayden Bailey in the under-13 boys' race. Closer to home, the Bath Hilly Half takes place from the racecourse on Sunday (11am), with more details available at www.trionium. com/bathhillyhalf. The Castle Combe Chilly 10k will also be held on the same day. For more information, visit www.dbmax.co.uk. England Athletics will be staging a workshop for the high jump and pole vault at the University of Bath on Sunday, December 8, from 9.30am-3pm. The course is free and anyone interested in attending must contact Anneliese Heard on aheard@englandathletics.org.
