A three year row over a farm development in Bath has drawn to a close. At a meeting of the Development Control Committee councillors voted to support Golden Valley Paddocks who were seeking retrospective planning permission for the development at Woolley Lane. Golden Valley Paddocks applied for retrospective planning permission for aspects including alterations and extension to existing agricultural building, formation of farm track, construction of stock pond and ancillary works. Councillor Gerry Curran (Lib Dem, Twerton) said: "I will be supporting this application. "I think the track is even less intrusive than it was, and the stock pond is not visually intrusive." Councillor Eleanor Jackson (Lib Dem, Radstock) said: "It seems to me that we are dealing with a historic mess. "It goes back a long way. "I propose that we accept the officers recommendations, I don't see an alternative." The development has been a long running saga, with a lengthy battle by campaigners to close down the farm because they believed it was a scar on the landscape. Enforcement action was taken against some development, including the removal of chicken sheds and feed hoppers. Bill Murphy, from Save Woolley Valley campaign group, said: "More than 1000 people have supported our campaign. "This is a major blot on the landscape. "Golden Valley Paddocks seem to think they can develop first and get permission later." Eight councillors voted in favour of the application, with three against.
