Given Parliament's welcome attention to public opinion over Syria, combined with the level of rightful condemnation of the poison gas attack there, we hope that the British Government will reconsider its determination to press ahead with replacement of the UK's Trident nuclear weapons. These are weapons of mass destruction that most of the British people rightly now oppose and whose use would dwarf even the horrors of Syria.
