Songs of Praise presenter Pam Rhodes will host a celebration of the work of the Mothers' Union in Bath next week.

The public event organised by the Bath Deanery of the women's movement is at St Stephen's Church, Lansdown Road, on Thursday at 2.15pm.

It will focus on the MU's work, in Bath and worldwide.

For ten years, it has given free cookbooks to students at both Bath universities during freshers' weeks. The aim is to provide easy to follow recipes which promote healthy eating for young people living away from home for the first time.

Last year 2,500 were given out, funded by a coffee shop in Kingston Buildings during the Bath Christmas Market.

The book is to be developed into an app, while recipes have also been included in foodbank boxes.

Ms Rhodes will interview people about their involvement and talk about her own experiences as a presenter, with the hymns and songs chosen by the seven local MU groups.
