Almost 85 per cent of adults in Bath and north east Somerset are now using the internet, according to new figures.
The latest data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) show that the number of people logging on has gone up by 3,000 in the past year, up to 468,000.
However, the area is slightly below Bristol, which is at 90 per cent, and Devon at 94 per cent.
Helen Milner, chief executive of UK online centres, said it was becoming increasingly important for people to use the internet.
She said: "There are still millions of people that are either not online or who don't have the skills to take advantage of all the internet can offer – including being able to claim benefits online."
