Members of teaching unions have handed a petition to Bath MP Don Foster over Government changes to education.

The group, made up of representatives from the National Union of Teachers (NUT) and the Association of Teachers and Lecturers (ATL), visited Mr Foster's offices in James Street West to highlight their "anger and frustration" about changes to the national curriculum, Ofsted inspections and pay and pensions.

NUT Bath and Radstock branch secretary Dave Biddleston said it had been signed by hundreds of staff from primary and secondary schools Bath and north east Somerset.

He said: "Quite honestly all of these things are happening too fast and are dictated from Michael Gove rather than being properly talked through."

Mr Biddleston said changes to teachers' pay and pensions were "deplorable."

The group who handed over the petition included Richard Vanstone, who is the local branch secretary of ATL, Sue Budworth, from Hayesfield School, Katherine Jubb, from Norton Hill School, and Martin Gailey, from St Gregory's Catholic College.
