A thread on the fans' website www.rugbynetwork.net called 'Henson on the wrong page of the paper already' had attracted more than 350 comments by yesterday afternoon. Among them are the following:
"I make no comment on Fearns's or Henson's characters or conduct, but you have to admit, the punch was an absolute peach – minimum effort, maximum impact. Has Fearns perhaps done some boxing in the past?"
"Well Done NB and the club. Matter dealt with. Now the team continue with pre-season training and I look forward to the Bristol game in one month's time."
"We all need to get off our sanctimonious high horses and step back, far too much preciousness here. The game is rugby, a hard game, with generally hard men playing it, yes it's a pity, but the days of chaps putting on their blazers and straw boaters and nipping off for a jar and a sing-song are gone."
