Bath Theatre School students have taken to their new production like ducks to water. The youngsters will be performing Honk! at Kingswood Theatre, in Bath, on Friday and Saturday, July 19 and 20.

Based on Hans Christian Andersen's classic tale of the Ugly Duckling, Honk! is a sharp and witty musical comedy which follows the coming of age story of Ugly, whose odd, gawky looks quickly attract a variety of unwanted attention. Audiences will be transported to life down on the farm as they follow the rites of passage journey of Ugly, overcoming prejudice and achieving acceptance.

Along the way, Ugly meets a whole host of fun and interesting characters and even a cunning and wily Tom cat, that has great culinary plans for Ugly.

Tom Bright, the principal of Bath Theatre School, said: "It's been a roller coaster of a ride since setting up the school in Sept 2012 and Honk! seemed the perfect choice for our first musical, as it's a show the whole team enjoys and knows well.

"The show focuses on the challenges of being different and this resonates with the team as our primarily purpose in setting up the school was to offer the most unique musical theatre opportunities in the area, which is best demonstrated by exceptionally high marks all our students obtained from the Trinity exam board earlier in the year."

The cast is made up of children aged seven to 16 years from all across Bath and the surrounding area which includes siblings Emily, Joel and Tom Franklin, two sets of sisters Abby and Sally Roberts, and Tayla and Alex Hatley.

The team behind Bath Theatre School are well known local seasoned performers with more than 100 years experience, so it is set to be a fun-filled, high quality, production.

Tickets, costing £10 and £8 and can be booked from the Bath Theatre School box office via www.baththeatreschool.com/tickets or by calling 01225 640046.

Bath Theatre School is offering one lucky family of up to five members the chance to win tickets for the show.

Just answer the following question, put your answer on a postcard and send it with your name and telephone number to Honk! Competition, The Bath Chronicle, Westpoint, James Street West, Bath BA1 2DA.
