A Bath primary school is preparing to say goodbye to its head teacher by throwing a music festival in his honour. John Croker is leaving Newbridge Primary School at the end of this term after seven years at the helm. Staff, pupils and parents are preparing to give him a rousing send off by hosting Crokerfest, which will feature an afternoon of live music and entertainment. Highlights will include sessions by local bands The Blues Others, Agent Philby and the Funtans and Chilli Jam, as well as a children's entertainer, toddler playzone, bouncy castle, face painting and the infamous Crokernut shy. Refreshments will range from tea and cake to a barbecue and licensed bar. Chair of governors Victoria Jansseune paid tribute to Mr Croker's time at Newbridge, which had begun shortly after the infants and juniors merged to become a single primary school. She said: "John Croker has been our head teacher for the past seven years, leading us from the year we became a primary school on amalgamation, to our current position as a successful and vibrant community school today. "We would be delighted if former pupils of the school, as well as members of the local community, would come together to join current pupils, staff and families for an afternoon of fun. Everyone is welcome." Mr Croker is leaving Newbridge to become executive principal of a multi-academy trust in Somerset. Kristian Hancock has been appointed as his replacement and will join the school in September. Crokerfest is taking place at the Charmouth Road school on Saturday, June 15, from 3pm to 9pm. Tickets are £5 for adults, while children go free. All proceeds will go to the school.
